Our varsity squad returned 16 players from the 2022 season, which saw a strong end to the regular season. Based on this experience we knew this group had high potential, and expectations were raised. The 2023 season started off a little rocky as we worked to find the right chemistry on the field, and also incorporated a new youthful group of 8 freshmen and sophomores to the returning experience. After going 3-3-1 in the month of August, the boys found their groove and would go on to win 9 straight in the month September, scoring 34 goals for and only allowing 3 against. Confidence was high going into the postseason, but in our district and region everything is earned, and you’ll need a little fotune along the way to make a deep postseason run. The mental toughness of this group shone brightly throughout the postseason, as they faced each obstacle with a persistence and a never blinking attitude. The adversity along the way only made them stronger, which continued all the way into the state finals. While we felt like we had a bit going against us in that last game, the boys never made excuses and were heartbroken to not bring home the championship. It was a tough post game scene, but the season as a whole was tremendous! It is easily a top 2 season in the history of the program, only rivaled by the 1990 state championship run. Hats off to all involved, and especially this special group of players!
